Convert radian to second (astronomy)
Selected category: angle.
Definition and details for radian:
Radian (rad) is the SI unit of angle. It is a derived SI unit, defined as m⋅m-1, which means that angles are dimensionless. One radian is the angle at the center of a circle that cuts off an arc of length equal to the radius. Since the circumference equals 2 π times the radius, one radian equals 1/(2 π) of the circle, or approximately 57.296o.
Definition and details for second (astronomy):
Second (" or s or sec) is also a unit of angle measurement used in astronomy to count longitude. Astronomers divide the equator into 24 hours instead of 360 degrees and measure the right ascension, which is the longitude coordinate for positions in the sky, in units of time. This makes 1 second of longitude equal to 15 arcseconds.
