Megabit is confused with Mebibit which is defined as 1024 Kibibits. The difference between them is that Megabit is a power of 10 number and mebibit power of 2.

Kilobyte (KB) is a unit of information equal to 1000 bytes, defined by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in December 1998. However, when referred to main memory or RAM capacity KB is equal to 1024 bytes, but this should now be called a kibibyte.
